Bosnia- Herzegovina November 25

Sarajevo is the capital city and in 1984 Sarajevo hosted the Olympics, many of the venues are in ruins, but the city is proud of hosting and the mascot Vucko. In the south the city of Mostar has a  gorgeous bridge  called Stari Most, cross and go to the old market where you can purchace  hand made crafts and fresh fruit and vegetables . Staying in the south, The old Blagaj Fort is the place to visit if you like to hike, but worth it for the views. Not in the area well as usual try my Razniji with a bottle of  Wachau Terraces Grüner Veltliner. Fantastic

Bhutan December 17

Tiger’s Nest is perched on the edge of a cliff, some 900 meters above the rice fields of Paro, this 325-year-old monastery is considered one of the kingdom’s most sacred religious sites. The Tiger’s Nest is now a revered Buddhist meditation site and tourist attraction. The country Bhutan has developed the philosophy of Gross National Happiness; where development is measured using a holistic approach of well-being, not just based on gross domestic product. The town of Punakha is home to one of the most unusual shrines in Buddhism. Chimi Lhakhang is dedicated to Drukpa Kunley, a tantric Buddhist saint known for his unconventional approach to religion. (fertility temple)While traditional culture has been very well preserved, the opening of the country to TV and internet in 1999 has had a major effect, and modern-day culture is mostly centred on bars and snooker halls. As a result, there is very little or no evidence of quality contemporary art, theatre or music. No backpack ! then try my Phaksha Paa with a great bottle of  Red Rooster Gewurztraminer #debonfare Cheers!!

Togo April 27

Did you know that ToGo is a tiny sliver of a country in Western Africa and it has gorgeous beaches, fabulous huts and pink skin pineapples. Togo also has a fetish market (what) with dried cheetah skulls, chimp hands and crocodile skins just to name a few and 1/3 rd of the population still practices voodoo. Soccer is the game here but in 2008 Togo won a Olympic bronze medal for men’s slalom K1 wow nice! Try a taste of Togo without packing, Grilled Chicken and Tomato Cornmeal with a glass of Pinot Noir Cheers!

Sapa Sui

Hey you really need to get to American Samoa just to see Ofu beach with its white sand, the bluest water and the so green hills that surround the coves looks like a dream. Go to Alega beach and have lunch at Tisa’s Barefoot Bar for a drink and soak up some sun, next day try hiking through the rain forest or something for experts the Tutuila leads up 491-meter-high Mt Alva then walk along and enjoy the view before hiking down to a scenic, seaside village of Vatia. Look it up and try some Sapa Sui with a bubbly glass of Cava. #debonfare

Manuia!
