Shortly after achieving independence from Britain in the early 1960s, Tanganyika and Zanzibar merged to form the nation of Tanzania in 1964.Today Tanzania is a country of 45 million people, a multi-party democracy, with a land area larger that Nigeria. Tourism is an important revenue earner. There are 16 national parks including the well known Serengeti Game Park, Tanzania’s biggest draw for tourists, Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, Lake Victoria, and many others.
4 pounds boneless beef cut into cubes
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon fresh Ginger
1 tablespoon fresh Garlic minced
Salt and pepper
Red chili peppers
1 small papaya diced
3 tablespoon grape seed oil
Marinate the beef with all the above ingredients except oil and lemon juice, for 2 to 24 hours. Drain beef and place on skewers. BBQ or pan fry until the mishkakis are medium rare to medium then squeeze some lemon juice over mishkakis. Serve with buttered garlic naan!
